As we previously shared 8Bit was invited to pitch in the annual PITCH competition at this years Web Summit in Dublin.

we were honoured to be participating in PITCH, as a part of a select group of 200 startups. PITCH is described as a battle to crown the best startup of 2014 and is present by Coca-Cola and Web Summit. The list included only 3 African startups alongside other leading startups from around the world.

After pitching first on Day 1 of the Summit, 8Bit was announced as one of the 20 finalists to progress through to the semi-finals of the competition, and was the only startup from the small group of African entrants to make it into the semi-finals. Unfortunately 8Bit did not progress to the final three but was knocked out by the eventual winner BroadStone.

Founder and CEO, Tom Kennedy had this to say about the competition, “We were extremely honoured to have been given the opportunity to present our vision for the future of content discovery and aggregation on a global platform like PITCH at Web Summit. Making the semi finals against so many leading startups was an amazing vote of confidence in what we’re trying to achieve at 8Bit. We’ve had such amazing support from our amazing group of BETA publishers and we can’t wait to expand this group in the coming weeks. We really were blown away by the support that came through from South Africa
